Welcome Letter

Welcome to the 2011/2012 school year! The teachers have many fun, exciting activities planned and cannot wait to share them with you and your children!  Below is a summary of the letter sent out in August!

• Calendar/Newsletter- Every month you will receive a calendar/newsletter sent home in your child's backpack informing you of upcoming events, along with advertisements from local businesses.  Please let the businesses know you saw their ad at our school, this is a fundraiser for our program!
• Photographs- Pictures are scheduled for Tuesday October 4th.  Every child will have their picture taken by Dawn Roach Photography.  Information about package prices will be sent home the second week of school.  This year, Dawn Roach Photography will donate 10% of the total package price to Small Wonders.  This is a nice fundraising opportunity for our school.
• Snack Helper - "Star of the Day" - Fall; "Healthy Kids Helper" - Spring.  The first half of the school year we will have a "Star of the Day" and the second half of the year we will have the "Healthy Kids Helper". Your child will bring the snack two times during the school year.  You will receive a letter telling you when your child will be the snack helper.

• Fundraising: As a non-profit, parent cooperative, Small Wonders Preschool relies on fundraising to meet its expenses.  You may be surprised to learn that tuition alone does not cover the cost to run the school.  As we try to keep tuition affordable we do rely on fundraising to help make this possible.  To help make up the difference, this year, the board has planned the following fundraisers listed below.  It is essential that your family participate in the fundraising opportunities offered throughout the year.  The fundraisers currently scheduled for this year are as follows (for more details, read more on the fundraising page tab on the blog).

1. Stone Oven Pizzeria - September 2011
2. Advent Calendars - October 2011
3. Carnival/Raffle - January 2012
4. Pizza reorder - Spring 2012

• Maintenance - Occasionally things break or are in need of repair here at the school.  If anyone in your family is handy and would like to volunteer to help fix things as problems arise, please call or send a note to the school.
• First day of School - Talk to your child about their first day of school.  The more confident you are in your child's ability to handle the separation, the more confident your child will be in his/her own ability to handle separation.
